Small Steps

Do you ever wonder, " What in the world am I doing? " Well I am on this little adventure for several reasons:
  1. I do like to write, even if only for therapy.
  2. I need to enter the world outside of Excel, Publisher, and MLS to learn a new skill.
  3. Everyone else is doing it. (And no, I would not jump off a cliff if everyone else is doing it!)

My friend had a little constructive criticism regarding the name of my blog. She was skeptical because of any potential likening to the "oldest vocation known to man." I was thinking more on the line of fishing. Obviously, my head was not in the proverbial gutter or fishing hole.

I've been pondering a lot lately. Once I get my head around it, I'll post. Just finished the biography of C.S. Lewis, a great literary scholar. I have found a common thread, or should I stick with a theme and say line, regarding great authors. Much pain, tragedy and not so perfect lives seem to feed these souls and assist in character development, incredible imagination, and diversity in scope of readership. J. R. Tolkien is my next biography to tackle. I'll see if the thread or line continues to lurk.

Just Do It

I am convinced we over think a decision. If I need to lose weight, just do it. If I need to exercise, just do it. And if I want to try to out the blogging, just do it. If I find this to be a burden or not fun, I can just stop doing it.

I must give credit to my friend, Robin, Pensieve who is a guru at blogging and my writer friend, Bubba or Frank, whatever you want to call him for throwing out the hook. It is evident that the creative part of their beings are fed by this venue. And thus, I am throwing out the line and trying my hand at this new adventure.

We'll see if I indeed get hooked.
